Fine Gypsy Jazz - Archtop - Flamenco - Acoustic Guitars
Gypsy Jazz Guitars
Gypsy Jazz guitars spring from the work of Mario Macaferri, a classical guitar artist and luthier. In conjunction with Selmer of Paris, he developed and Selmer produced fine guitars with many unique features. These were soon picked up by Django Reinhardt and other gypsy jazz players in the “hot club” scene of the 1930s. Their dry, intense sound continues to captivate players and listeners.
Draleon Contemporary Gypsy Jazz guitarists often want to bridge the gap between the Selmer tone and elegant power of modern archtops. Draleon fills this gap with incredible handcrafted Gypsy archtop guitars. Rhythm & Lead models, $2895 list. Special order only
Gitane Finally, modestly priced reproductions of the Macaferri D hole short scale and long-scale “petite bouche” Selmer models. Made in Spain! List prices from $895 to $1395.
Archtop Jazz Guitars
Powerful, sweet, and elegant - modern archtop jazz guitars offer great performance to the new generation of jazz and jazz- influenced players. These guitars are perfectly at home with Gypsy style music. Indeed, Django played a Gibson extensively.
Eastman Guitars The new standard in affordable handcarved archtop instruments. Originally a bowed string company, Eastman bought their knowledge of arched instruments to the guitar world with a bang! List prices from $1895 to $3695.
The Loar Moderately priced F and round hole solid-top archtops designed by Greg Rich. Highly affordable.
Dell‘Arte Production guitars designed by the famous Dell’Arte partner John Kinnard and Greg Rich of The Music Link CALL
Flamenco Guitars - all Spanish made
The Gitane of Spain added a Moorish flavor to Gypsy guitar music, developing flamenco music. Flamenco initially relied on inexpensive instruments that gave a fast percussive response and quick delay. Spain is still the heart of flamenco and flamenco instruments. I also order in other smaller production lines and can get guitars made special.
Amalio Buguet Traditional construction by hand in Valencia. List prices from $995 to $1397. We can order Buguet classical guitars for you, too.
Prudencio Saez Good quality mahogany or walnut Valencia guitars, classical in design, but we set them up low and fast for you with flamenco strings. List prices from $375 to $425.
Lucida Surprisingly good production guitars from Spain. From $164.99 to $1099 list. The "Concerto" is popular
Acoustic Guitars
Eastman Archback Incredibly crisp, rapidly becoming a favorite with recording musicians and fingerstyle players. Surprisingly affordable for handwork.
