But always with that tear in the eye. Amalio Burguet of Valencia brings a
master’s hand to the production shop, providing flamenco, jazz, and gypsy
jazz players a range of crisp, powerful guitars at home in club, restaurant,
or around the campfire. Completely hand crafted in a traditional shop, only
1500 produced each year.
Amalio Burguet, born near Valencia, apprenticed in a range of guitar
workshops as a young man. In addition to the production shops of
Valencia, Burguet worked with fine luthiers, such as Paulino Bernabé in
Madrid. Burguet is well known for his attention to detail and high
standards. He concentrates on material selection, temperature and
humidity control, and precise construction to achieve consistent results.
His guitars are among the best of the Valencian area.
Buguet opened his own shop in 1984. Beginning with 3 makers, he has
gradually expanded to employ 15 and now produces about 1500 guitars
annually. Burguet concentrates on providing the greatest feasible amount
of handwork. The top models are all completely handcrafted. Machinery
does a little of half of the work on the basic models. Amalio Burguet also
builds a few of the top models personally in his own separate area.
